Text:
When computers first came out the only application that was available was text interface. It was complicated to use if you didn't know how to use it. It had more room for other files as the files were made to a smaller size to fit more files.

Text and Menus:
Text interface did eventually have some inprovements. For example one of the improvements was menus. Arrow keys came into use so you could move around the screen instead of just having to type in all the commands. There would pop up a list of commands and you were to use the arrow keys to choose which command you wanted to do.
